Mumbles87
Hey just wondering if anyone could shed some advice on a problem of mine. I was just playing my P bass through a WTX260 when there started to develop a crackle, mostly when i played when resting my thumb on the screws of the pickups, this crackling continued then all sound cut out. Turn off the head and back on again, now sound is coming back through but at quite a reduced output, i'm completly stumped and can only think there may of been a grounding problem, or what i'm wearing is quite staticy? As you can tell im quite new at this so any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Mr. Foxen
Tried a different bass? Establish whether its the bass or the amp. Crackling from screw touching says earth problem. If its the amp, that might be harder to fix.
Mumbles87
sadly i dont have another bass or amp to try out to see which is the source of the problem. Another thing has also come up now which is that sometimes when i touch the top of the amp i get a crackling noise when i tap it...
7string
The Guitar Nuts site has chapter and verse on all things shielding and grounding. The link is here. Edited November 4, 2009 by 7string
