Hi folks, this thread will end up on 'gear porn', but until i post the photos, i'm going to fit Leo Quann Badass II bridges to two of my basses tomorrow.
First bass is 200X Fender Jazz Bass 75 reissue, factory special run, bought from a Basschatter in Italy.
Second is my 1983 Japanese Squier Precision.
I know theres plenty of debate as to the benefits of these bridges, but i really like them, and i'm sure, to me, they help Fender basses out a bit.

Photos to follow, before and after shots...

The Jazz, by the way is my 'the one'...which is very exciting. It's what i'd have Fender make me for a Sig bass, basically.

Without trying to be a git....er, what's the topic of discussion or interesting bit of information you're imparting that will provoke discussion on a discussion board?

Now, if it had pictures and happened to be in gear porn it would be another mater.........

I see your point...i think i was getting over excited about the prospect of fitting them, i did however mention it will probably end up in 'gear porn' once i've sorted the photos.

So...er...wait until i've sorted the photos, and i'll prove your point for you.

Until then...

I for one am interested as to how much difference there will be tonewise after fitting a badass, and to do it to two basses might show some interesting comparisons :)

Well now, if AndyTravis said he was going to do a comparison in the face of the fact that some people think there's no difference there would have been dicussion fodder wouldn't there?

Maybe i should have said 'any advice...' or similar?
There's always one smartarse around the corner, lol.

My bad, note to self, have a point when posting...

Well, I'm not fitting any badasses ATM. Perhaps I should do a comparison too? Hang on...

.................................................Pause..............................................

No, they both sound just the same as they did before. See, it's all voodoo and bollocks.

Hahah, that genuinely made me laugh out loud!

I don't mind either way if they make a sound difference, i'm used to the way they look and feel, and used to my other Jazz (Marcus Miller) having one on, and i'm into the idea of them...
Horses for Courses, still, undeterred, i'll shove them on, and enjoy my already lovely basses, with my preffered Fender replacement bridge wedged on...

The most important thing to do is buy a used Badass II bridge from a well known forum regular with multiple pages of feedback. That way you can ensure reasonably prompt delivery and a sensible price.

Ha ha, Oli, grade grubbing eh? I like your style!
Yours is going on the 1983 Squier Precision.
If the postman ever fecking arrives. Lazy bastards, the sorting office is just around the corner.
The basses are now both stripped of their bridges and waiting.

As it happens, I've been thinking about trying a badass (or something similar) on the J. :)

Just waiting for one to pop up at the right price...

Hi,
no, i don't have the facility to record as I don't record at home, the band are recording stuff using double bass at the moment too, and John our Producer has told me to piss off every time i ask him to record some solo bass stuff.
He's automating a full ep's worth of a 5 piece band, plus a quartet, so he's up to his eyes.

Anyhow, it's too late now.

First photos...

The Basses before i'd started.

The Squier and Fender both sporting the original 'bent tin' bridges.
The Fender had lost it's original 'G' saddle, and the previous owner had made do with a substitute...not me though...

Step two...Removals.

Nothing Special, but worth pointing out that the 80's Jap Squier had a nice and neat round cut out for the earth wire, like my 2003 Marcus Miller, Whereas the USA FSR 75 Jazz had a bit of a messy oblong cutout.

Also, the Squiers earthing wire was a multi-core, but the Fender just had a thick single cable.

All packed away, and labelled in the last photo, incase i want rid of the badasses, or indeed, the basses at any point.

Now, here's the pisser...

I waited until HALF THREE for the postie.

He only delivered one of the two...

Oli's arrived, so i thought i'd shove it onto the Jazz, as i wanted to get going on it first.

So...here it is, fitted.

I'll possibly change it all over again when the other arrives.

The answer to all the doubters is...It makes the bass acoustically louder, and adds sustain.
No placebo effect, it really does make a difference.

Here are a few Pictures of the 75 FSR before i added the badass with the other Jazz in my Collection, a Marcus Miller.

I'll post the pics of the Squier when i get the other bridge.

The postal strike may affect this...by Tuesday should be done...
