Anyone play that 'Guitar Hero' game and does it help being able to play a real one!

Just had a go in PC world at 'Bad Reputation' by Thin Lizzy. Did pretty badly tbh.

Anyone else played it?

There seems to be loads of muppets on Youtube think they are Steve Vai because they can press a few buttons

I was addicted for a while but I'm back with the real thing now. Playing the guitar lines is ace but it has to be said playing bass in two player mode is exceedingly boring though.

i can't wait for 'Rock Band' to come out - drums as well!

Strangely I can't play it on the easier settings. I don't think it would help me get better, but perhaps at entry level it might help with hand-eye coordination?

i think its a rubbish game, the idea is good, but they haven't made the game good enough. it has the potential to be so much better

I don't see the point of the game for people that can actually play the guitar...

I don't know about Guitar Hero, but Jam sessions on the Nintendo DS is fun - it turns the DS into an acoustic guitar where you select the chord with the + pad and strum with the stylus. You can even define your own chords and use it as a songwriting tool. Shame it doesn't have seem to have backing tracks to play along with though.
