Scot Bass
Good evening folks. This is mt first post so please be patient with me. I've been playing fretless for about a year now and have decided to buy a proper one if I can. The one I'm playing is a P/J copy with the frets ripped out . I'm finding that it is a wee bit hard to play with its wide neck although the sound is good (to my ears anyway). I generally have the J pickup at full, the P pickup at 1/4 and the tone set with the bass just rolled off. Its played through my Ashdown EB180 head and 410T Deep cabinet. I would be grateful for any suggestions of what to buy with my limited budget of £250. Cheers Scot
OutToPlayJazz
There's only one choice, really. Squier Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz. Unless you can see something on the classifieds on here...
Delberthot
the squier is fantastic and I don't like jazzes. highly recommended
BassBus
+1 on the Jazz. The chap I just got my Warwick from has one up for £250, never played and with a Badass bridge and Quarter Pounders in it and in a hard case. Also has TI flats on and sounds superb, I'm actually quite tempted myself!
Everyone raves about the Squire VM Jazz. To have one with TI flats on it would be a great combination. martthebass
I'd have to agree with all the above. Can't think of anything less than £400 that would touch the VMJ.
hubrad
Plus if you struggle a bit with a (presumably) standard-ish width neck, a Jazz will give you the slender option.
