ryancowell25
Hi all Having a terrible job of dating my Yamaha bass guitar. Its a a 6 string I bought it used about 4 years ago from a reputable London Bass Guitar dealer. Serial number is :5011047 Pictures of it are at the link below http://s370.photobucket.com/albums/oo145/ryancowell25/ I'm even having problems identifying the model (TRB or TRB II). It doesn't seem to look exactly like others i've looked at on the internet (Bridge etc.). It has a bolt on neck. There is no Yamaha logo on the headstock but Yamaha is printed on the Tuners along with Japan Made in Japan is also etched into the back of the headstock along with the serial number The only thing that seems to be not original is the volume control I've been searching forums and looking for serial numbers for ages and its driving me mad any help from forum users would be much appreciated Thanks
OutToPlayJazz
I think I've seen your bass before. It's a TRB-6 prototype and a fellow user on here was offered it. Nice bass by all accounts. Looked like a hybrid of the original stepped body shape with the bolt on neck from the TRB-6 II. I'll dig out some pics when I get a moment. Edit: Yes, it's definitely your bass - I have a link to your very photo album! Lovely looking TRB, BTW Rich. fatback
Have you tried this? http://www.guitardaterproject.org/Yamaha.aspx If the serial search engine doesn't find your serial, I think I remember that it gives the USA Yamaha phone number for enquiries. I phoned them to date my '83 BB, which wasn't in their list, and they were really helpful.
