Shaggy Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 (edited)
how about this little gem it's an Epiphone Allen Woody signature Rumblekat. semi hollow body, arch top & very nice it is too. (excuse the crap photo's they are the best i could manage now it's dark) it is a lovely bass & sounds propper thunderous. 30.5 " scale & only 4 weeks old. it has the propper Epiphone fitted hardcase with it too. i had no intention of selling it but i accidently bought an EBMM Stingray yesterday (you know like you do )
Got to say Epiphone are making some absolutely cracking semi-ac basses at the moment. This would be my pick of what's for sale just now, if you can live with it being short-scale and fretless, lovely vintage bass and amazing price - seen one going for $2K in the US: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Ovation-Fret...=item3efa1f0e2b Semi's / hollow-bodies definitely have a sound that you just can't get any other way, use mine loads (Gordon Smith Galaxy, Gibson EB-2 & EB-2D); going to have to try one of the modern piezo ones Edit: re post above - those Rivolis were made by Peerless (Korea) and are really rated highly Edited November 15, 2009 by Shaggy Quote
evilLordJuju Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 The Epiphone Rumblekat is a good bass, exceptional for the money. I'd certainly try one of those. Quote
skankdelvar Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 (edited) eastwood guitars do a couple of semi-basses. About $500 + $189 shipped if bought direct. Not sure who the UK dealer is - it might be cheaper. Edit for: There's quite a long list of UK dealers on the eastwood website: http://www.eastwoodguitars.com/ Edited November 16, 2009 by skankdelvar Quote
JHBASS Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 What about Italia Basses.....incredibly sexy, had the chance to noodle about on one for a few mins, felt quite nice....wish id spent more time with the girl! Quote
buzzard Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 According to this , Hagstrom is about to reissue the Viking/Concord bass http://www.hagstromguitars.eu/3522.0.html?...Hash=c54696f337 It will be different from the old Concord since it has humbuckers and (probably) set neck , but it sure looks interesting. It is also said to have a "6-way Time Traveler pickup rotary switch", something like the one on the EB3 perhaps? This is my Concord, not sure about age but they were made 1967-1971. Bolt-on neck and singlecoils, nice vintage sound and a dream to play with its slender neck. Quote
