chardbass
Hi guys, I need to order about 5+ sets of strings- haven't ordered since the pound declined against the Euro and Dollar so my usual online stores aren't so cheap now. I used to order from a German site but obviously it's now no cheaper than ordering from the UK. 5 sets from the US delivered is about $195 which I'm guessing could end up being £134 (after VAT) + handling charges (would end up being around £30 a set) I'm after DR HiBeams 45-125s. £32 is about the cheapest in the UK unless anyone knows of a better route I can take? fusionbassist1
stringsdirect.co.uk give a bulk discount and are around £28 usually per pack from what I remember. If anyone knows of anywhere cheaper online that'd be great though as I need to get a load in as well.

I have used Strings and Beyond myself many times and always had great service. They may not stock that many brands of bass strings, though for DR's their spot on. Hope that helps P Edited November 30, 2009 by Platypus
Low End Bee
I ordered some DR Black Beauties from Stringbusters as they seem to be the very thing according to some on here. The .45 G sounded like a rubber band on a shoe box so I emailed them expecting it to be a pain. They called me on my mobile next day apologising for not getting back straight away and I had a replacement the day after in the post. Top customer service. The strings sound great. I'm guessing the lower tension will take a while to get used to after years of Rotosound RS66's. Still feels a bit odd at the moment. If that is true then it may be worth looking at 'The Perfect Bass' as they did me a cracking deal on DRs @ $130 for 5 sets inc' shipping but the taxes spoilt it a little bit (still cheaper than anywhere in UK/Europe).
