BigRedX
It's a Baldwin Model 704 Bass. Date will be some time between 1967 and 1970. Unfortunately this Baldwin model has little in common with the Burns instruments that preceded it. I used to have the 12-string guitar version of this in exactly the same finish, which had a neck that had twisted so badly that it had been re-shot and a new fingerboard added to compensate. It hadn't made it much more playable and tone was only marginally better than a "Woolies special".
nick
Gorgeous looking bass there. How does it play? Love some of those old junker basses that crop up, some of them can end being real gems. I've got a cheap Commodore semi from around the same period, love it - really deep resonant tone, nice neck & fun to play. Even gigged with it, though probably like yours; they love to feedback! Look after it. Edited November 18, 2009 by nick
