It's a Baldwin Model 704 Bass. Date will be some time between 1967 and 1970.

Unfortunately this Baldwin model has little in common with the Burns instruments that preceded it. I used to have the 12-string guitar version of this in exactly the same finish, which had a neck that had twisted so badly that it had been re-shot and a new fingerboard added to compensate. It hadn't made it much more playable and tone was only marginally better than a "Woolies special".

Gorgeous looking bass there. :)

How does it play?

Love some of those old junker basses that crop up, some of them can end being real gems. I've got a cheap Commodore semi from around the same period, love it - really deep resonant tone, nice neck & fun to play. Even gigged with it, though probably like yours; they love to feedback!

Look after it.
