hillbilly deluxe Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Made by Brazilian luthier Andrellis. Blocks, binding and pickguard are Brazilian Rosewood. Are there any more through neck P/Jazz bases, the only other one i saw was years ago,a Sattelite P type. Quote
Happy Jack Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 That's really very nice. The nut's a bit ... erm ... quirky. Quote
OutToPlayJazz Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Now that's a P I'd play Utterly stunning looking bass. Are you planning on buying this one? Quote
hillbilly deluxe Posted November 20, 2009 Author Posted November 20, 2009 No intention of buying this, but it does look nice though. Quote

Sean Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Lovely bass. What's that nut all about? Never seen one before. Quote
Les Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 I've quite surprised myself by lusting after that. Quote
hillbilly deluxe Posted November 20, 2009 Author Posted November 20, 2009 (edited) Im just suprised that it's not more common to see through neck P or Jazz bases. Edited November 20, 2009 by hillbilly deluxe Quote

Nice bass too - I remember Jackson used to do a thru neck Precision shaped bass with their signature pointy headstock and some rather lurid colour schemes. Not as nice as this though (unless you're into big hair and spandex...) Quote
largo Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 I used to have a couple of Sei Jazz basses with thru necks. And my Shuker has a set neck, so looks pretty much thru neck from the back, with a Fodera-style neck join. Quote
Rumple Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 I have one of those old Satalite through neck P basses, tough to play but it sounds quite good. a combination of a through neck and through body stringing maybe? Quote

They use plastic ones now which are flakey (and sharp) but still work. I can't think of a reason why they changed them, other than cost and convenience Quote
BB2000 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Yamaha BB1200, BB2000, BB3000 (and variants). Through necked instruments don't have the same punch as bolt on instruments though, especially bolt on's with traditional Fender bent tin bridges. Quote

Bassassin Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 There were a couple of early 80s JapCrap examples from Fernandes & El Maya - the Fernandes was near-identical to the Satellite (possibly related) apart from colour, and the El Maya was very ornate - a proper Hippy Sandwich. Can't find any pics but I'll keep diggin'. Jon. Quote
BigRedX Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Still doesn't have enough frets which kind of defeats the object... Quote

Principally the ThunderIII. It's a fair bet that the other Matsumoku-manufactured marques (how's that for alliteration?) had a few, too; Check out Ibanez and Aria also. Where's a Bassassin when you need one!? Edited November 22, 2009 by Lfalex v1.1 Quote

My Warwick Stage II was way more punchier than some bolt-ons I've owned, in fact probably most bolt-on's I've owned. And my Shuker set-neck is way more punchier than my Sei Jazz bolt-on. Quote
