Musicman20
With the Lakland DJ5, when did they start PLEK'n and change to Lakland pickups? Also, are the Aero pickups classed as better, or worse? Obviously difficult to answer....as its subjective. But which is the authentic DJ sound? Thanks
Hutton
They changed to 'pleking' fairly recently. My DJ4 has Lakland pickups and I love em'! I think the only way to get an authentic DJ sound is to get Daryll to come and play your bass. Edited November 21, 2009 by Hutton

The Lakland pickups were announced on October 4th 2006.
GreeneKing
Plek'd? Fret dressing machine? I thought at least some Lakkies had Lindy Fralin before Lakland pups? My BG did.
chris_b
You could email Dan Lakin with any questions. He's usually very prompt and helpful.
EssentialTension
If you are looking to date the bass and it's a Skyline then the first two numbers of the serial (e.g. 08*******) are the year. And at least sometimes the second pair are the month.
