AduneMoon
Does anyone know if the pjb bass suitcase +4B cab would be loud enough for playing pubs/small venues ?. Thinking about getting rid of my TE rig for something a bit easier to move around as i keep smashing my wrists on door frames, really like the sound on pjb stuff but never really inquired about the power. Any help would be appreciated thanks =) Callum Edited November 24, 2009 by AduneMoon

And you need to like a clean sound PJB does'nt do dirty. I considered the same set up but but it was not what I really wanted I now have Barefaced compact/tecamp puma much louder and a lot more bottom end. I guess what I'm saying is you really need to try it out before you buy its a bit of a specialised sort of set up more popular with the upright players which is also the reason my mate bought one john
Moos3h
I haven't any personal experience here, but will relay what I was told by bassdirect this week when I enquired that it's fairly unlikely in anything other than a small space with a sympathetic drummer that you will have enough headroom to be clearly and cleanly heard if playing rock music. For Jazz stuff etc then it would do the job nicely!
machinehead
I tried one out when I was thinking of buying for small pub gigs. Not loud enough on its own IMO and that was the only real reason I wasn't hooked. The sound is superbly clear. Maybe with the extension cab it would be OK but I have no experience of this. Frank. The rig is absolutely fine for using in pubs. The drummer in the originals band really plays loud (he's also extremely good) and the suitcase does fine, although admittedly the volume knob is up around the one o'clock position. We both wear earplugs and I can still hear the rig; I'm sure some people's perception of the rig is that if it's that small and only uses 5'' drivers, then it must be a bit weedy but that's not the case. Yes, it doesn't do real low frequency rumble but apart from metal, not many bands/punters want to feel rumble. I like to hear actual notes and that's what the suitcase does very well. It's a shame you couldn't pop round for a demo, but for anyone going to the North East Bass Bash this Sunday, I'll be there with the rig. AduneMoon
Hey stevieC thats great to hear about the pjb, if i can get rid of my TE rig then i will deffinately get it and the cab were only planning on playing pubs and small venues like TJ's in newport, don't know if many peoples been there from here ?. i really like the clear sound the drivers give, and i hit 2 birds with 1 stone as if im not practicing with the band or playing a gig i can take the cab off and just use the suitcase for practice in my room. Good stuff thanks everyone =D Callum
