chris_b Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Yet another great gig faces going to the wall!! The Half Moon in Putney is being forced to quit live music as of January 31st. Apparently the brewery (Youngs) has been sold, and the people who have taken over have a history of turning pubs into restaurants. As a music lover and supporter of live music please offer your support and go to the website: www.halfmoon.co.uk/information/closure.html There are petitions etc being organised as we speak. The Half Moon has been a major supporter of live music for over 50 years, and deserves our support. Quote
Kiwi Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Oh thats a real shame, the pub is an institution in its own right. I've been there a few times. Quote
obbm Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Oh this is tragic. I've played there a few times. Quote
WHUFC BASS Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Thats a f***in travesty. A great live music venue being turned into a restraunt - makes me sick. As if there aren't enough restraunts as it is! London is turning into one big housing estate interspersed with restraunts that sell alcohol. Who says our culture ain't dying ? Quote
Low End Bee Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Rotten. Truly rotten. Played there 3 times this year and I love it. Best sound around, nice people and decent money too, Quote
Shaun Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 This is terrible new. The Halfmoon is 5 minutes walk from my place and the only decent live venue in the area. Quote
Beedster Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Damn, I used to live virtually next door and loved the place. It's also notorious in Beedster folklore as the site of of my only ever appearance in leather jeans. The hottest, least comfortable and most embarrassing night of my life. Where's the petition? RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Shame , hopefully the locals could make the place rat infested and get the place back to a music venue. Quote
