Hello all
Im going to treat myself to a new bass in the new year, im going to get a Yam Bb414 in black to compliment my active 614. The problem is i realy crave black and maple and i was wondering if it would be possible to change the rosewood board for maple? Does any one know if it can be done and roughly how much it may cost?
Steve

Imagine the black and maple with a badass and flats, mmmmmm nice.

Of course it can be done. Damn near anything can be done on a bass - for a price. I wouldn't imagine it would be cheap though, fingerboard replacement is fairly major surgery.

I take it Yamaha do not offer the combination of woods you're looking for?

At least it's a bolt on, which will make it easier than on a set or thru neck. You will be adding a half or more to the cost of the bass - it might be worth looking at another range or even another make before you take the plunge.

I have thought about a jazz in black and maple but i didnt get on too well with the last one i had and i love the Bb sound and shape, they punch well above their weight in my opinion. I will have to have a word in the local shop.
