Horizontalste Posted November 27, 2009 Share Posted November 27, 2009 Hello all Im going to treat myself to a new bass in the new year, im going to get a Yam Bb414 in black to compliment my active 614. The problem is i realy crave black and maple and i was wondering if it would be possible to change the rosewood board for maple? Does any one know if it can be done and roughly how much it may cost? I wouldn't imagine it would be cheap though, fingerboard replacement is fairly major surgery. I take it Yamaha do not offer the combination of woods you're looking for? You will be adding a half or more to the cost of the bass - it might be worth looking at another range or even another make before you take the plunge. Horizontalste Posted November 28, 2009 Author Share Posted November 28, 2009 I have thought about a jazz in black and maple but i didnt get on too well with the last one i had and i love the Bb sound and shape, they punch well above their weight in my opinion.
