Bassman
Somebodies said that the humbucker on the "Westone rail" is a guitar one, right? Sound it so bad ? I think with an EMG it will be possible to get (more) better sound, don't you?

Jerry_B
One of the best basses I've ever had was a Spectrum DX, red with black coated neck. Paid £50 for it with a case. I hav a picture somewhere. Still wish I had it really.
I've had one since 1988 - it's the one I learnt to play on. It's built like a tank and still sounds really good, and the only thing I have to replace are the machine heads. The natural wood finish was chosen because it had been spray-painted combat green over the red factory finish by whatever dingbat owned it before me. Just a shame my crappy phone camera doesn't show it all off!
WWRRSS
here's my two battered and beaten Westone Thunder I's, I got the bass when I was 14 and then when I decided to learn guitar bought the exact same model when I saw it in a local cash converters, I'm sure the original owner would hate to see it now. Both still work perfectly though.

BluRay
Used, abused and much loved thunder 1a. Paid about £160 (I think) in 1986-7 ish. Still the favourite!

Jerry_B
Seems to have the same sort of pups as my Spectrum DX...? If so, I bet it sounds great with two of them (and active extras?)...
geoffbyrne
Pups are a P in a soapbar neck, series/parallel switchable; a double-bobbin side-by-side humbucker in bridge, series/parallel switchable. Bridge in series can get really burpy. Neck in parallel for bouncy old rock. Vol knob is push/pull for in/out of phase. Centre knob is passive treble roll-off (active or passive) and 3rd knob is the peculiar Westone pre (anti-clockwise bass boost, clockwise mids boost). Normal pickup selector. Series/parallel mini switch, active/passive mini switch. 18V electrics. G.

Last seen in Cambridge about 20 years ago! Dave
Dunno what happened to your bass I'm afraid, but I've always fancied a fretted/fretless double-neck. I played a custom built job some years ago made by Fernandes, which was nice. Was your Westone a custom job? Cheers
It's a Thunder 1A, active, needing 2 x 9v batteries which may well need replacing. Use decent alkaline's and remember to switch out the active circuit when not needed (lower of the two switches) and they last for ages. The switch is actually an active/passive switch so if the batteries are dead you should still be able to play on the passive circuitry. New batteries should make quite a difference. Hopefully that's all that's needed and you can get on and enjoy the bass.

waynepunkdude
Indeed Jacklondon has asked me to do a design for him on one of his basses so I'm going to try it on this first, as it's Japcrap I think it works.
