ialma
I'm almost buying an old AFR bass - single piezo for each monorail bridge, but the owner says that when he switches to piezo pickup, the volume of the B string is always lower than the one of the other strings. I have no experience with piezos, so I'm wondering if the volume problem issue is just a misplacement of the piezo or if an almost dead pickup can have a partial volume. Thank you
NickH
The only such system I have any hands-on experience with had a little PCB which sat inside the control cavity and has a tiny trim pot for each string. If such a thing isn't provided on said bass, you could try taking it to bits and swapping the B saddle with another string. You'll need a delicate hand with the soldering iron though as such things tend to be very small and fiddly.
The Burpster
Contact the man behind them see what he says..... These were designed by Rolf Spuler for Ibanez.. I'm sure he'll be able to answer your questions...... Kiwi
Failing that, check: The size of the piezo transducers and see if the contact point is slipping in between windings on the string. Or whether the piezo has been damaged or the saddle filed down to take the string.
