Musicman20
I asked TC about updated products, and the Staccato was just being released....with the new small RS112 being the latest and the various combos. I also asked 'any chance of a higher wattage version?' I got the response which was roughly this: 'Whilst we cannot comment on future developments, this has been asked a few times. However, at the moment I would suggest you test the RH450 because of the APM feature. It really is much louder than you probably think...we rated it conservatively'. I do think they may release a higher wattage one, but I think now is too soon. Its still quite a new amp and its just getting to the point where its quite popular. There are some great deals on the amp/footswitch/bag....I paid a little more myself 2 months ago, but, mine was a sealed product which I requested. It comes and goes I guess, Ive managed to obtain other items pretty damn cheap so swings and roundabouts. My RS210s should be here soon and I think the price I paid for them is fantastic

Musicman20
I just googled the TC amp, and I think its the Classic 450 thats the prices listed above. Thats still a good amp, but for me, the features are what sells the amp so well, so RH450 all the way. I have still seen great RH450 bundle prices though. Slightly off topic, but long time cab addict KJung on Talkbass, who I often ask advice from, has compared the RH450 with two different cabinets. Firstly the RS210, and then the Bergantino AE410. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.p...9357&page=4 http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=134299 He has compensated slightly for volume difference. I was actually shocked. I half expected the AE410 to blow the RS210 away....and it didnt. Its just a soundclip, so obviously nothing scientific, but the RS sound is definitely one like. I then had a sigh of relief. I do think either late 2010 or early 2011 will bring a new TC amp though.

In which case there may well be a few local BCers who'd maybe want to meet up and try a few combinations out; they might be just as interested to see how your RH450 sounds through their cabs. A few of us 'Ooop North' regularly do stuff like that and organise mini (3-5 man) bass-bashes, if you you don't have a local pub/club/village Hall that you can access free, local rehearsal rooms are reasonably priced. Might be worth starting a thread off about it and seeing what interest there is in your area!
Sorry, I am a southerner, but the idea is great I got my RH450, Bag and pedal for £799, just ordered a 212 inc cover for just under £500 Edited February 18, 2010 by lojo
I'm always open to something being better than what I have... unfortunately not found anything as yet! Good point about the next bash; if it's to be a mini-bash then it's fairly easy to organise, just got to ensure that our resident video/sound recorder is available. Anybody seen WoT lately? deej
The more I read about these, the more interested I am. Ive generally been thinking about upgrading to a valve amp as I like a dirty tone, but ive been thinking about getting something more versatile as I have plenty of pedals to add dirt if I want. How much grit you can get out of these amps? Im not looking for pure filth, but a bit of bite would be nice.

lojo
Played the RH450 and 212 last night Small club gig (120 people) we did an mixed 80s set pop, ska, funk, cheese, rock I used my MIM P bass (which I love) and got the sound I wanted, about 1/3 tube tone gives a lovely understated realistic growl If you had of swapped it for my orange cab behind me without me seeing during the set, I may not have noticed The best thing was also the first band on used my new rig, so I got to stand at the back of the hall and listen I had a smile on my face throughout We had bass also in the PA, but you could feel the bass from the cab On its own its fine, but I will add another, it does not need to go louder, but it may put the tone out better than our PA does Ive not tried the 210, but I am over the moon with this 212 I think ive found my dream portable rig, went in the back of the car got home and did'nt dread unloading Edited February 21, 2010 by lojo
alanbass1
Played another gig with my RH450 running through my Bergantino HT112/EX112 cabs. The amp really sings with my P Basses, and at home with my Ricks. I still prefer my Mark Bass heads with my active basses (Thumb NT, Spectore NS4 and Avenger Clover 5). The one active bass I have which sounds better through the RH450 is my '79 Stingray. I will keep experimenting but I'm glad I have both options. Musicman20
I must admit the RH sounds great with P/J basses. But, even my Rays sing through this amp. I am keeping the LM3 purely because I like the Markbass sound, and it really does click with the Ernie Bal sound.

Bigwan
It's the Classic version he has for sale, not the RH450. Great if you're "set and forget" without all the bells and whistles of the rh450 (tuner/presets/foot controller).
