Hi folks, just fell across this site, so thought I'd join in and hopefully gain some tips and advise. Started to teach myself the Bass guitar back in Feb of this year at the not so young age of 48, using the tab method as music is double dutch to me. got hold of a descent packeage for a starter ASHTON AB2 and 10 watt amp, couple of books and cds (beginner) got on better than i thought so money wasn't wasted. my good lady has got me a nice fender squire jazz/precision bass, (and have managed to wangle it out of her before crimbo, and what a difference, still learning from a 8week crash coures and 5 months later just at the half way point (haha), so Geddy Lee need not worry just yet, Listen to good old prog rock, rush, zep, sabbith, priest, etc .etc
Aircraft engineer by trade, and but loads of vynil much to wife and kids dismay.
Can anybody reccomend an upgrade amp (from asthton) to match the fender my missus kindly got me
look forward to chatting with you good folk
cheers

Welcome to the site. I am an old starter too, and too started with a Squier Precision. Now have 16 basses!
Whatever you buy someone will find a better one or cheaper one and there's so many good things out there. You should get plenty of great help and advice here though.
What's your requirements - I've got a 300w Carlsbro Delta amp + cab for sale (c£300) and I expect to be coming down to Cornwall (Fowey) in the next couple of weeks. There's an ad in the amps sales forum though it's a few pages down now!
Anyway, drop me a pm if you are interested.
Enjoy the site. Phil.
