gafbass02 Posted December 1, 2009 Author Posted December 1, 2009 yeah no guard is an option, its already drilled but thats not too bad Quote

Cat Burrito Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Black would be my choice. Just classic Quote
basshead56 Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 maybe a tad old-fashioned, but what about a nice 3ply black one? I reckon the gold would look a wee bit weird. or if you wanna make it look dead-flash, what about a mirror one? Would love a walnut jazz actually. What year/edition is it? Quote
gafbass02 Posted December 1, 2009 Author Posted December 1, 2009 It's the cij jb-62 wal but just the body off reliable fender going for a black n gold/brass thang. The neck will be a squier for now till I can afford a nice one. (or till I've paniced and flogged it to get cash back ) having looked at the pics it looks like it has an internal bridge earth route unlike most 62ri's Quote

MythSte Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Leave it without and put gold screws in the screw holes so you have a nice classy outline. Quote
gafbass02 Posted December 2, 2009 Author Posted December 2, 2009 Did think I might try that tbh bt worried about finger snagging. Quote
JTUK Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 If the grain of the wood is pretty visual and attractive, then a clear plate, for me. If not, then probably black. Quote

Lfalex v1.1 Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 +1 on black. Not sure whether it'd be single-ply or b/w/b, though. What colour's the hardware? Quote
gafbass02 Posted December 2, 2009 Author Posted December 2, 2009 The hardware is prob gonna be black n gold I reckon Quote
OutToPlayJazz Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Transparent perspex sounds good to me. Would look cool like a Bacchus J. Quote

NickH Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Let's have a piccy of the bass then, so we can see the bit of walnut in question! I love my natural finish walnut Status with black hardware. It's a gorgeoud wood, so unless you got a nasty bit I'd say show as much as possible with a see-thru guard or none at all. Quote
maxrossell Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I have a walnut J with a black pickguard. I like it. Quote
bh2 Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009
Let's have a piccy of the bass then, so we can see the bit of walnut in question!
Exactly... although it'll look nice without a pickguard I'm sure. I removed the p\g off of my '62 Jazz (brown tort!) and now it wont fit back on! I know with some jazzers there's a routing channel that makes this not an option. Quote
gafbass02 Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 It's just the eBay pics of the body at the mo, I'll stick em up when I get home from work. Whatever I pick is gona have to wait anyway cause I'm skint so it's gonna be guardless for a while anyway just hope it all fits together ok! Quote
gafbass02 Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) pics up and now i can see the bridge earth route!! Doh!! its been a stessful week lol! Edited December 3, 2009 by gafbass02 Quote

NickH Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 The screw holes are really obvious, so it's going to need something in there. +1 to transparent guard definitely. Lovely bit of wood that, bet it makes a sexyful bass, keep us up to date? Quote
