At that price it's worth sanding down and staining/painting. I bought mine as a cheapo backup i can just keep in a soft case and lean against a wall without fear of damaging something expensive. I thought as long as it makes a noise and stays in tune it's earnt it's keep and wasn't expecting anything great. I can see a big Mod insignia going there! Thing is, it will be a good bass for this or any other gig and it's so cheap you can handle some drunken reveller falling into it.......
