Haven't seen anyone else talking about these yet on here- but it appears that a new line of 'rays is set to be unleashed, based on the originals (2 band eq's, string thru bodies, bridge mutes etc etc)

have a look here MM Site & here

'yup thats where nature intended them to go back in '76......makes perfect sense....

Those are just prototypes too - the real ones come with a chrome battery cover and figured birdseye necks (at extra cost I believe)

Edit, Ah yes, those are shown in the 2nd link. Beautiful basses.

I'd be right there with you but for the matching headstock. Not my taste unfortunately.

They said on the forum that they are going to rotate the colours every few months or so. So expect different ones popping up. That is unless they have changed their mind.

yeah, i'm not really feeling that either, they seem to have stolen that from fender, and most of the colours too....

I don't think matching headstocks are an idea that only fender have used in the past 50 years...

for example, my Bongo has a matching headstock...

An so did a Dean I had a few years ago...

The Sea Foam/Birdseye & Sonic Blue/Rosewood

FIT!

Never really looked twice at Stringrays et al, but if I was after an active bass....these would be high on the list!
