Old Horse Murphy Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007
The only reason you like it was that you could see Gill's backside reflected in it when she was wiggling.
Unfortunately, everything you said was true. Am I really that transparent? Yep... Quote
silverfoxnik Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007
Here's my latest - used to belong to Platypus and Psychoandy and now it's mine. I've had it about 3-4 weeks now but wanted to wait until my new pickguards arrived from Jeannie's Pickguards before posting - it had a boring plain white on before. It has Aero pups, a J-Retro Deluxe, a Hipshot drop D thingy and a new set of DR Sunbeams on it. Oh and I bought a new Hiscox case for it - very nice too.
That's simply beautiful.. And at the risk of making a discussion of the aesthetics of your bass sound like a 70s porn movie, I definitely prefer the the 'black on black' look Quote
Gwilym Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 sweet looking bass. i like the tort guard, but the black one is the biz Quote
jwbassman Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 +1 for the black on black, must be a good looking bass even the wife was quite taken by it... is it christmas soon Quote

bass_ferret Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Black/black/maple looks nearly as good as black/ebony with no scratchplate. Quote
butlerk02 Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Anyone know how much these go for second hand? Quote
Soulfinger Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Wow, that IS some porn. No wonder the sheets are in a mess. BTW, one more vote for black on black. Quote

Muppet Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007
Alan Try this on the J-Retro: Wind back the bass pot because the J-Retro has bass boost at the detent. Wind back the treble pot to take the top off. Wind the mid frequency all the way back, i.e. as low as possible Boost the mid level pot to taste. Pan the blend control towards the bridge pick-up. I find this a good starting point and it punches through everything. I use this with the amp almost flat and then boost the bass control a gnats if need be or tweak the blend back toward the centre. Works for me.
A bit similar to mine Bass pot wound back so that marker is at 12 o clock (facing bass) PUP blend wound back so that marker is at 12 o clock Treble pot marker at 3 o clock Mid frequency at 4 o clock Mid boost at 4 o clock Amp set flat and then I tweak the bass and mid very slightly according to venue and whilst we're posting pics (think I should get a new pickguard actually cos of the gap...) Weird War Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 (edited) Just found this... what an absolute beauty; you are a man of impeccable taste. (Black on black gets my vote.) Muppet's is great too - the tortie and white combo conveys a discernable air of funk... Edited October 24, 2007 by Weird War Quote
