If my memory serves me rightly, I think the luthier had something to do with Fodera at one point...although I could well be wrong. They're certainly regarded as a competitor to the Fodera class of boutique basses.

I think the question is perhaps along the lines of the "big name tagging" that goes on on ebay. You know, the advert title is something like "el cheapo fretless bass WARWICK FENDER ALEMBIC" or whatever!

He didn't say that... he was just illustrating that irritating thing people do on Evil-bay to attract attention to their (inevitably) less than high quality item. I've no idea if that's what you are doing - I have not heard of Eshenbaugh before - but I would think it a bit pointless as anybody willing to pay proper money for such a bass will almost certainly know what one is :)

Good luck with the sale - interesting to see something different.

Could you answer my question, please? Curious to know.
Can't find anywhere that Mark, or Carl, have had anything to do with Fodera...

The Carl Thompson connection seems to be that it was featured on the same website as some Carl Thompson basses so I guess that it may have been in a room with some Foderas at some point in it's life :)

"Mark worked Side by Side with Carl".

That IS a lovely bass. Love the Fodera Imperial look of the body... but the head doesn't do it for me though.
Starting to believe that the bodyshape is the only connection to Fodera...

You seem to be under the misguided impression that that's an insult!

Still..... have a bump for your ugly bass that looks like an even uglier Fodera [/quote]

That's not what he implied at all. He was illustrating that ebayers get attention for their cheap stuff by tagging the title with big names. Solid?

I think your title grabs more attention the way you have done it, but it won't really generate more chance of a sale because folks in the market for a Fodera on here are not likely to have their mind changed, they already know they want a Fodera, not a competitor. People on Basschat with that sort of money won't take chances and they will already know about Eshenbaugh. It's simply that you are new to Basschat, you have couched your sale with the aspect of an ebay listing, and you don't yet understand Basschat decorum.

Good luck with your sale.
