Moos3h
Hi all, Looking for speakers to upgrade a 2 x 10 which needs to end up at 8 ohm, so either 4 ohm or 16 ohm speakers are needed. But all the usual suspects have hardly any of these in stock! Given that 2 x 10 is quite a common setup, why does no-one have any? Does anyone have any recommendations for where to get speakers from. So far, I've tried Lean, Blue Aran and ebay. I won't use Watford Valves and HotRox don't really have much. Cheers, James
Bill Fitzmaurice
Given that 2 x 10 is quite a common setup, why does no-one have any?
Because the average buyer wants a 4 ohm cab 'so I can get all the watts out of my amp' so few 4 and 16 ohm drivers are produced, and most of those are OEM that you have to buy from the speaker manufacturer, if they'll sell them. The Bass Doc
I've got a pair of Fane Studio 10s at 16 ohms if you're interested. Looking for £20 each+postage (would have to get a price on that 'cos they're heavy)
Moos3h
Hi Howard. This sounds great - I can't find any info on them online though, do you know specs or can you link me up (or give me a full model number?) Thanks! James
The Bass Doc
I can only state what's on the label - Fane Studio 10M - 200 watts RMS (400 watts peak) - made in 1998 (but stored after minimal use for the last few years). The chassis are heavy-duty cast jobbies with that 'squared-off' look.
Moos3h
Thanks Howard - found a spec sheet for them: http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc107/S...iks/Fane10M.jpg How does £50 delivered for the pair sound to you? Interparcel.com should be able to do it via Interparcel Economy for around a tenner, tops. Thanks! James

It is actually a superb driver and the Doc is selling them for a very good price, but it's no good for bass guitar unless you are going to use it just for midrange. Moos3h
Thanks Stevie. Reading their charts they seem very similar to those fitted in the Ashdown anyway, similar frequency response. I'll give 'em a try anyway, as this cabinet is never used on its own anyway. All done and paid, thanks Howard!
