bisonkills Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Got this lovely new cab of Steve... Top guy! Quote
davedave Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I may well have a GT200 in the next couple of weeks. I`ll bung some pics up when i have it. Cheers Steve, You were a delight to deal with. Quote
Graham Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 (edited) I foolishly looked up some YouTube videos of a GT200 the other day and now have serious Matamp GAS, do I have the money or space for an enormous, heavy, all valve rig? Not in the slightest. Does this fact help? No. Edit: Amo, it was your video infact - that overdriven tone, just love it. Some really nice playing there too. Edited May 18, 2013 by Graham Quote
Amo Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Thanks man ! Happy to be part-responsible of your Matamp GAS Quote
cheezus Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I managed to break my Matamp 4x10" - bass cab and my 300W tube amp a week ago at gig. I opened the cab today and checked up the elements - one of them was completely dead and did not show any reading when I tested the impedance with a meter. I also noticed that one of the electric wires was also detached from another element (not from the one that I think is broken). I have the Eminence Ferrite Delta 10A (8ohm) elements and there is a marking "Custom manufactured for Matamp audio techology". Any idea that what's the difference between the standard and the custom version of the element - or is there? I cannot even describe the feeling on the stage when I realized that the cab went suddenly completely mute and the tube amp blew all the tubes few seconds later. Quote

Sounds like a speaker went because disconnected and the others were pushed hard and tuned wrong because of the new passive radiator they had to deal with, what head was it? Quote
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I'm glad that the single speaker is quite easy and cheap to change. When I opened the cab I realized at the latest that the cab is built like a tank and it's definitely going to last my whole life. Awesome piece of gear and the 4x10" + 1x18" stack is the loudest thing in the world. The amp is a Finnish point-to-point handmade custom 300W tube amp Monster el Monarca. There is more info in the manufacturer's site http://monsteramps.fi/site/?lan=3&page_id=63 The guy who makes these amps is also fixing it. Luckily Finland is quite small country and most of the big cities are being located in south so the fixing service is also quite near. I have posted this picture to this topic in the past but here you can see the amp. Quote
davedave Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Right, I'm just sat in the Matamp factory waiting for a case to be made for the very last gt200 mk1. I am beyond excited! Pics to follow......... Quote
tayste_2000 Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 Yeah I saw it at the weekend, I'm ordering a MK2 later today I think though been a bit busy to do all my specs for it. Either way it's going to be very special Quote
davedave Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Nice one matey. That cab of yours is a beast by the way. Quote
tayste_2000 Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 Yeah it is and it'll be coming home soon Quote

davedave Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Well, I broke down on the way out of Huddersfield. Bad times. However, I did get to rehearse with the gt200 and an 8x10........... Holy s*iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! I couldn't stop laughing for the first three songs. Settings as follows; depth, all the way left, gain, full, bass full, treble 10 o'clock, presence 9 o'clock, volume full. My word! Quote
tayste_2000 Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 Jesus, I mean eq wise that's very similar to how I use to run mine but god damn that volume and gain I never managed to get mine above 12 o clock on the volume. God knows what you use to use the B-15 for Quote

davedave Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I'm still rattling now! The perennial volume monster who is the guitarist in my band just shook his head and said " there is no need". He was smiling while he said it, so I assume it was a compliment. If any of you are in Hull next Tuesday night feel free to come to our gig at the sesh. Apologies in advance for any fillings that are loosened as a result. Quote
tayste_2000 Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 Think I can just stay in Manchester and hear you to be honest. GT200 Mk2 ordered Collection planned for my birthday as the last GT200 I had was made on my 25th Birthday so to start as I mean to go on I'll have it's replacement on my 29th Quote
davedave Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Hahaha! Mazes tov on the new amp. Are you going for a standard one? Quote
tayste_2000 Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 Haha, standard my arse, this is going to be about as customised as you get. Quote
tayste_2000 Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 So the 8x10 will be coming home and then I'll see where I go from there. I have greatly enjoyed using the B-15 over the past few weeks but it terrifies me gigging it. Quote
Amo Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I'll probably flip my green 610 for a pair of 212. Who has had experience with 212s here ? I'd like to have some feedback on them Also, what are the default drivers and how broad is a vertical 212 ? Thanks guys ! Quote
tayste_2000 Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 If you have an older 2 band GT200 the 2x12 is pretty much the same width. I actually have a brand new Matamp 2x12 that I borrowed from the Matamp showroom (subsequently decided to stick with my 8x10 and the new head) you're welcome to come try it, it will be a lot cheaper than custom ordering one. Drivers are Celestion Tru-voice, personally I love them they are small and light (for Matamp cabs) and they sound great, but I have an 8x10 and the new heads don't fit on them and I prefer 1 big and heavy thing over 2 small and light things so 8x10 over 2 2x12's for me, but it would sound AMAZING, definately a richer fuller sound than the 6x10 which is a bit toppy for me. Hope this helps Quote
Amo Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Hey Steve, Yes, it helps a lot, thanks for your input. I have a MK1 GT200. So as I expected from what I gathered on pics from the net, it's the same width as the 212. I'd be happy to try yours but I'm based in Belgium so it will be quite difficult I love my 610 but it's lacking a bit of highs for me comparing to what I had with my 212 before. Plus, I'm moving into an appartement with no elevator so the 610 will be a big no no in a month. Quote
tayste_2000 Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 Well if you're interested in it, it's basically Matamp Demo stock let me know and I'll let you know how much they want and they can sort the shipping out with you. Might be a good way to go and try one, its certainly available for a price that isn't going to cause you any issues if you don't like it and want to sell it Maybe have a look at Barefaced as I tried them recentl;y with Matamp, very much not my tone but had a hella amount of treble available.
