Wooks79 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013
Hi Wooks. Did I see on here somewhere that you were thinking of moving it on? How does it handle drive?
I was, but then I realised I would be an idiot to, its amazing! Quote
davedave Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I have had many gear selling moments like that. I had a 72 precision that was absolutely amazing. I do miss that one the most. I'll be keeping my gt200 until I'm too frail to lift it. Hopefully my son will be able to get some use out of it too. Any pics of your rig? It seems we're in the right place for it. Quote
Wooks79 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Only pic I have of it on top of the vintage so far - Quote

tayste_2000 Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Acquired this tonight before my gig tomorrow. The specs Custom GT200 MK2 Gain & Volume on the front of the amp Bass, Mid, Treble, Presence internally on the amp (set at the factory for my tone) 2 Identical inputs (allows me to use my Ric O Sound and do dual mono and who wants to pad a bass on a valve amp ) Most importantly On/Off Switch is a key, so if this ever gets stolen it's useless, no key - no power, no power - you have a nice paperweight. Head weighs 26.45kg Cabinet Reworking of the 2x12 I used for years and recently sold. Issue with the old 2x12 is the new GT200 doesn't fit on it so I've had them make it shorter and wider. This cab uses their new lighter wood and neos and clocks in at 21.8kg I'm gigging it tomorrow, I've had no time with it other than setting the eq, but it will be nice to have some real power behind me again Quote

tayste_2000 Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Yeah they kept the factory open so I could get there at 7.30 and was done like 8.30-9ish One could argue if they'd got it finished on time they wouldn't of had to, another is don't ask for a stupid key on/off switch and we'll get your amp turned around in half the time and not have to stay 4 hours after for you but its very very cool the whole on/off thing Quote

What's to stop someone pinching the amp and replacing the key switch with a normal on/off switch? Quote
umcoo Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Looks great Ste! 2x12 looks bob on as well. Quote

I'm not saying its impossible to get round, but it's one more obstacle and the average thief shouldn't have a clue about it. Quote
Wooks79 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I love the key idea! I daren't ask To have one retrofitted to mine though Quote
tayste_2000 Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 Can be done, isn't easy but can be done. You can do one better,m they can do a key fob like a car that will turn the amp on and off, though i'd recommend that for standby and on over power on and off Quote
Roland Rock Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Do they do fingerprint recognition ;-) Quote
Fine with that, I think they did that with the last 2 that were stolen as we recovered everything but. It will not keep me comforted at night to know someone is out there playing my stolen amps, I'd rather they were useless to everyone except me. Also, it's pretty cool it's got a key on it Quote
bartelby Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Now I've seen the photos. It looks awesome!! Quote
tayste_2000 Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 Sat on the 8x10, still debating if I should sell this. Quote
tayste_2000 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 Yeah the new GT200 and 2x12 is really making me question the 8x10 and B-15 thinking of selling all of that and just having the Matamp, but god damn I love that B-15 for low level things. Quote
davedave Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Tools for all occasions! I'd keep them all. You never know what you might need down the road. That said, my gas is out of control. It may prove terminal if my Missus finds out. Maybe I'm not the best person to listen to. Quote
tayste_2000 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 Thing is this 2x12 is so loud, well the GT200 is SO loud and the 2x12 can take it the 8x10 just isn't needed and I'm feel old I've not plugged into the 8x10 now for nearly a year, a lot of that was due to no amp head though. Quote
davedave Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I know what you mean on feeling old. That Marshall 8x10 of mine will be going soon. If I can shift some toys i might take the plunge on a Barefaced '69er. Unless a certain persons black basket weave/salt and pepper 2x12 comes on the market anytime in the near future. The Marshall sounds amazing with the gt200, but 72kgs takes the piss a little. I love my spine the way it is and I struggle to see any roadies in my future. Quote
