Posted this in "bass tracks to listen to before you die" thread, and am now posting it here

The bassist is a woman named Meshell Ndegeocello (thanks to bubinga5 for pointing that out)

Bit of a strange one this, but it satisfies all of my groove needs...

Which is why I put this up 2 or 3 pages ago and beat you to it! :)

EDIT: It was on the last page and you commented on it you crazy fool!

But it is good enough to put up 2, or 3 or 4 or 5 times!

could list ad infintum bootsy , stanley clarke, george duke, george clinton all day but here are a few to get you shaking your booty around the office/factory/place of work

Steely Dan - Babylon Sister

Little Feat - Red Streamliner

No Doubt - Hella Good sort it out Gwen!

Freedom for King Kong - March ou Reve

Infectious Grooves - Therapy you gotta <3 the backing vocals!

and for sheer visual entertainment despite lack of a 'conventional bassline' the rhythm and meter do give it a definite groove of its own (plus its just about one of the funniest tongue in cheek videos out there! ive lost count how many times ive watched this one over the years and it still has me chuckling every time)
Bubba Sparxx - Miss New Booty

enjoy :)

I've just been catching up with this thread, some of these links are ace.

That Ben Harper song above - they have it on a live DVD where Juan sings along with his solo, I think it's a better performance, but then there's not much more funk on the DVD so if you were buying it for just that it'd be a waste. Maybe someone has put it on youtube somewhere but I didn't find it.

I can't remember this one being up or not but here it is (again!)

On his recent radio show with Flea Ronnie explains that Willie was playing in the band and used this line as a warm up. The other guys told him it wasn't an exercise but a song in itself, and fixed Willie up with his first publishing deal!

I couldn't find the original on youtube but this is pretty fine as it stands, although Keef barely does!
