Al Murray played this on Radio 2 this afternoon - Wow!

That's more like it :)

The Meters were funky before the word funky was used for music :)

Heard this again last night - I know it is a direct lift from the O Jays so perhaps I should have posted that instead, but this gets me every time.

Great track ... great album in fact. This is one of my favourites from it.

Yep, I'll have to dig the album out again - especially to listen to that one without the cheesey video - looks like they seriously ran out of budget!!

Love this - it's been a mainstay on my iPod since it was first released :)

I love the bubbling little bass line played under this soulful mix from the, wonderfully named, Winston Warrior :)

Solar Radio have been playing this for ages & it's taken a while for me to get into, partly because of the use of autotune, but I just love the bass.

Give it a listen all the way through to hear what I'm on about :)

Wish I could play anything like this fluidly :)

How about this fella....nice playing
[/quote]

Wow, very nice :)

EDIT: It's worth checking the band he's playing along to. Alvaro Lopez & Res-Q Band - album Suenos, opening track, is the track he used. Not typical of the rest of the album though.

Here's a stupidly funky tune my gran (bizarre I know) used to play a lot when me and my brother were younger. Usually we'd end up dancing around the living room in our pyjamas too it. :) Happy memories, killer track!

Really cool! That's obviously got a really big Michael Jackson feel, but that's not really a problem right :)? Synth bass like that is just awesome though - how about some Cameo?

First up, love Al Jarreau, and yes, nice groove to the above, great feel in drums and percussion. Now I am not one of the All Slap is Evil brigade but I've got to say I found some of what the bass was doing here entirely surplus to requirements, even, dare I say it, a little gratuitous. On the other hand, I loved the more subtle playing at around 3.23.

Another fan of Al Jarreau here.

Good oldie Groove here.
The great Pops Popwell with the Crusaders.

Hearing that Carl Carlton track reminded me of this - the original, and far superior, Valentine Brothers version of Money's Too Tight to Mention:

Love that. I checked the credits - is it Sly himself playing bass? Sounds like it's picked too. Funky pick stuff is so unique.
