when i first heard this band in the early 80's, it turned me on to bass.. even if you dont like this band, Randy's bass playing greatness is undeniable... imo. [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8J8KPhb9H1k[/media] his 16th note fingerstyle at 3.00 onwards is just awsome

See I don't think Groove can be defined or quantified personally, different people feel different things.
To me, this grooves like an absolute biz-nitch...yet there's no discernible bass part, and the drums are programmed:

Not the best sound quality on the vid, but this is amazing. Great bass playing (of course) and the type of groove that would work at a fast or slow tempo (if you were to slow the track down).

Posted a Meters track here a while ago, having heard them on Craig Charles' show - just got a Best Of from Amazon - don't know how I've spent so long being a music fan and never knowing of these guys - that stuff is soooooo funky, highly recommended, but then you probably all knew that already B)
