The singer sounds a bit like Bobby Byrd.

Just an observation, there being some very nice stuff here - but most of it is 20+ years old. I relate to all of it, being a soul 'n' reggae freak;
but I'm old- what happens with those that follow us on, where is it going, and with whom?
I was lucky to be starting with Bowie, Clapton, Chris Squire, Peter Green, Brian Auger, Jon Hiseman, Matt Ross, and many other fine (and forgotten) heroes - I worry that I'm not seeing this calibre of talent emerging today - somebody please tell me I'm wrong!

:)

Not sure it gets more funky or groovy than this.. Also comes from a time when albums had proper titles (this is off A Blow For Me, A Toot To You)..

Four Play by Fred Wesley & the Horny Horns (also featuring Maceo Parker and Bootsy on bass). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p439jEufNo8

In the pocket, out the pocket, around the pocket..
