Pete Academy
Was watching this a couple of weeks ago - Victor is an amazing musician. EDIT: I've been going through a Wooten appreciation period. Often people just see the bass pyrotechnics but the guys can really groove as well. Actually he can do it all. Sometimes it's difficult to comprehend how great he really is. And so effortless, too. Edited August 1, 2018 by Dad3353

Pete Academy
I wore that AWB album out. Still the best funk album out there. As for the Ohio Players...'Fire' is one of the most important tracks in soul/funk music IMO.

Doddy
Weather Report get fonky! Miroslav Vitous doing the honours on bass. Nope...... 'Cucumber Slumber' was played by Alphonso Johnson. The only track on 'Mysterious Traveler' that Miroslav Vitous played on was 'American Tango-the rest was Alphonso. Stingray5
Nope...... 'Cucumber Slumber' was played by Alphonso Johnson. The only track on 'Mysterious Traveler' that Miroslav Vitous played on was 'American Tango-the rest was Alphonso. Doh! Is my face red? Thanks, Doddy, and my apologies guys. I was too damn lazy to double-check my copy of the album. Having now done that, I see that bass on 'American Tango' is actually credited to both Alphonso and Miroslav. Stingray5
This is as tight as the tightest thing in Tight Town! Don Grusin - Catwalk (live) And Abe's own band Koinonia
Stingray5
More tightness from The Brecker Bros. Amazin' solos from drummer Richie Morales and bassist Neil Jason. (Note how pee'd off Randy Brecker is in the intro (0:07) when certain people are noodling when he's trying to speak! tsk tsk! )

iconic
and a couple of village hall/wedding/engagment/fete disco flavored ones....yes, very commercial for some taste but great basslines and great to play. I have been playing this Tramps gem all week, easy to throw lots of pops in there, to funkify up! I'm finding this bassline a bit tricky though...my fingers are too damn slow still on the D string run!
