Straplocks (again)

I have an Am Standard Precision bass which was fitted with the Schaller style straplocks when I bought it - I would have assumed these were the Fender branded ones if they were supplied with the bass. I bought some Am Standard style strap buttons from axesrus so I could use the same strap on my precision as my tele and fitted them. The lock part doesn't lock properly onto the strap button - I've inspected the difference between the Fender (I think) button and the Schaller (I know) button, but the bass in question is at the mender's at the moment so I can't compare the two for definite. The Scallers on my strat do look ever so slightly different to the new ones I've got.

Anybody got both the Fender and the Schaller?

I have a 2004 MIA Jazz.

It has its original strap buttons still on it.
They are quoted as being straplock compatible (ie Schaller)

I have 2 straps which I use across some 10 basses. These have Schaller locks installed and they switch from bass to bass with no trouble, Fender included.

AFAIK the Straplock compatible Fender items work fine with Schaller Straplocks...

hmmmm.
i don't think the strap buttons I've been sold as Am Standard strap buttons are in fact Am Standard Strap buttons - the schaller locks go onto them ok, but they come off without much persuasion. Using the same locks on schaller buttons and they're grand and won't budge at all.
