I may as well save someone the horror of being scammed rather than playing this chump any further...

<edit>

I alerted the Mods re. this scumbag as soon as I spotted this but I thought I'd better stop anyone from making an impulse payment to this lowlife! :)

The guy on the Warwick forum who has been scammed, paid via bank transfer and has a name and address but would you hold any great hope out for tracking him down when he is in Thailand (at least according to his Warwick profile, which has since been altered). :rolleyes: :)

I'm the one who was unfortunately had by this guy on the Warwick forums and I'm working on getting my money back. I'll be posting the info contact info he gave me in hopes that if this whole police thing doens't work maybe there's some slim chance that someone could track him.

What is it with all the Warwick forumites eh? Cant tell a scam from a mile off :) Unfortunately because i didnt know the scammer personally i cant really help :rolleyes:

The IP address is based in a fairly remote part of northern Thailand. $2000 would probably feed a family for months there.

There's a popular Thai bass forum http://www.siambass.com/ so it could be worth dropping one of the mods or admin a message through their forum and seeing if he's known there as well.

EDIT: They've got their own warwick sub forum too.

I hope this one turns out well Kwesi, i hate it when things like this happen.

Reminds me to always be on your guard, there's always going to be an element of trust but i still find it pretty shocking when a fellow bassist tries to rip someone off

Well, people have to learn to buy only to reputable member of their respective forums or to have any other form of proof that he'll really send the bass.

Such a damn shame when things like this happen. Most importantly as that bass is an incredible specimen. I hope it all works out positively for the guy who paid the money.
