John Paul Jones – Them Crooked Vultures

Bought the album this morning - just listened to it from start to finish and it absolutely blew me away. JPJ’s lines are great! Intricate in parts with an aggressively punchy tone that sits up in the mix and makes you listen; I couldn't stop myself from concentrating on the bass for the entire length of the album. I'll undoubtedly give it another few listens over the next few days, but I think it's my album of 2009.

I just realised they played Pompey last night and now I feel a bit sick that I missed it…physically sick

They're playing Blackpool tomorrow and I'll be missing them too.

Watched the gig on the Beeb and thought they were great; JPJ seemed to really be enjoying himself.

It's worse cos I did sh*t all last night - if I was out and had a good night then I wouldn't feel so bad about it, but I was literally just sitting around in my pants playing Pro Evo...

Yeah I can't get enough of this album. The riff at the end of song 1 is incredible when it kicks in.
