one for the tech heads......

i am currently playing through a hartke a100 combo

have recently acquired a mesa boogie diesel road-ready 2x15 cab

i am awaiting delivery of the hartke lh500 head

the 2x15 is a 4ohm cab (if you intend to use both 15`s as i do) and will be powered by the lh500

would it be possible to use the combo as a second amp/monitor using the D.I. or effects out from the lh500 into the a100 combo

 :)

cheers

If you're effects loop is a parallel one then yes. If it's series, then no, as you'd be breaking the signal from your LH500's preamp. If you have the trusty old Boss TU-2 tuner, I just discovered (after 10 years of owning one) that both outputs work at the same time, with no degradation of signal, so that's one way of splitting your signal.

Actually, I just had a look at the manual for the LH500 and it seems that it's a parallel effects send, but it's at +4db, so if you can adjust the input volume on your combo you should be fine to use it that way. Of course, I could be completely wrong, so anyone more experienced please chime in.

dont know if it makes any difference, but my combo has a passive and an active input

it also has an input (phono) for a CD or MP3 player

But, with a mesa 215 & the lh500, whats the point? :)[/quote]

better to have the option and not use it, than to not have the option at all

(plus it will piss our guitarist off!)

I think the general opinion is to try it and see for yourself. And the other half are thinking its pointless mate :)
