Sean
I've never been a huge fan of Musicman instruments but over the past couple of months I've played four Ball Family Reserve guitars and basses and they were all absolutely superb. I've tried two Stingrays both of which sounded warmer and "hotter" than any Stingray I've ever tried before and the quality of them was first class, the flame tops just breathtaking (not that I've seen many shabby EBMM). The two guitars I played were ridiculously good; one was a Petrucci model and the other a double necked Silhouette. I would say they were easily as good as any PRS guitar I've tried. Does anyone have one? Anyone tried them? here's one of the basses I played (cheers Dave) And here's one of the guitars (Cheers Johnny) Edited December 13, 2009 by Sean
OutToPlayJazz
Yes, I've looked at the BFR instruments a few times. They're lovely looking things, but I do baulk at the £2.5k price tags. I'd love a stripy rootbeer Stingray HH, though!
bigsmokebass
nice guitars and basses but the priuce tag would be the only 'con' for me. are they much different from the anniversary editions?
Sean
£2500 Ah well. Anyway, here's a load of BFR porn for you all. It doesn't cost to look. Some of those Sterlings are gorgeous.
Rayman
They look nice, but the thing I've always likes about Stingrays is that they're a workhorse bass that can pick up a few dings at gigs and it doesn't matter, but I'd be afraid of taking one of those puppies down to the Millstone pub on Saturday night, for fear of scratching it.
