The new ashdown mini tube amp looks good, but after calling it the little bastard, where is there left to go if they want to do a more extreme version?

Will they eventually have a range of amps called the 'kick in the b*lls', 'motherf**ker' & the 'utter c**t'?

The two channels are described as - One sucks your face, the other gnaws your foreskin off.

I think Ashdown have already got that one covered! :)

Imagine having one of those amps and it stopped working - you'd have to post that the F***cking F***cker was f***cked.

They wouldn't have just found a box of obscure old valves, would they?

:)

Looks like a low output version of Orange's Bass Terror maybe? If they do a 400W version to rival the terror it will be either called the 'Total Utter Big Bastard' or the 'Christopher Woods Custom' model though that may never actually make it to market ^_^ (just in case Big J reads this thread)

more like hes just used the military spec versions of normal valves which often have the same ratings just different names.

Could be a great recording or practice amp for getting valve distortion at sensible volume levels... although I'm a bit disappointed that it doesn't have a gain control.

They've just knocked out all the potential church players.... Zvex renamed their Double Super Hard On pedal the Super Duper 2 in 1 at the request of players who would be taking them out on church gigs...

Still, nothing a little covering with gaffa wouldn't fix.

Are we going to see a bit of a market for sub-100W bass valve amps then? I don't particulalrly like the look of it, but i imagine it would make a nice home/practice amp if you like your valves. No doubt it could be pretty loud for that too.

hmm, would be a nice practice amp i guess for at home, not a lot more than that. I don't really see the point in these little amps that are supposed to sound AMAZING in your bedroom, when you're the only one that's going to hear it. I have a cheap £50 ashdown combo for that. Spend the money where it matters, on a LIVE rig. Though arguably, i guess the little bastard could be good for studio recording, as you wouldn't have to crank it to get a nice sound like you would an all valve ampeg or something.

I don't find the name offensive but it is a little unnecessary. It's like they are trying to be really rock n roll because they swear. I'd just be a bit embarassed to play one. Not that I feel really strongly about it but just my two cents

Ashdown probably think that their target market would be impressed by that kind of thing :)

You are, of course, the one who posted about it though!

For people playing doom metal and such that want power tube distortion (especially at venues where cranking a 200W tube amp will give the sound man a heart attack), it looks like a good option. Mark Olson over at Talkbass posted some clips of him playing a Precision through an all-tube Orange Tiny Terror (the guitar version) and it sounded great, and loud enough for small gigs according to him. I think it would work well alongside a regular more powerful bass amp if bi-amping with clean/dirty rigs.

If they make an amp called the Utter C**t I'm buying it! :)

15 watts per side? Sounds more like a nibble than a gnaw.

Hmm.
