Interesting this, now I think about it, I've had loads of pairs over the years - must be something I do semi- or sub-consciously. I've moved a lot of stuff recently, but current pairs are these (non-identical twins...err...in no particular order)

Loz, you already know this but those Alembics are sooooo gorgeous.....

2009 Fender American Standard Jazz 5's.

The black one has had an Ebony Lined fretless board fitted with Seymour Duncan Vintage pickups and Ti flats.

The Sunburst has Nordstrand pickups a Redeemer and Ti Powerbass strings.

can't decide though, would it be better if the white t40 had a rosewood neck for extra 'opposites' appeal?
Mmm, White, with rosewood is a very rare thing.
I'll race yer!!!
Gigging both soon?? Hope so! :)

Pedulla MVP and Buzz both in Amberburst, although you wouldn't think so.

Smith BSR5GNs

There are others for the Modulii, Cutlery, and Spectors but I have to upload them.

Here are my twins:

Two Fender Jazz (Geddy Lee), although I've sold one now. Also in photograph are two Rickenbacker 4003 basses (I also have a 4001CS and a 4003s5). Mustn't forget the twin-neck twins, a 4080 and a 4080/12.

a few more as promised...

...this group shot is the only one I have of both Modulii when I owned them:

The Cutlery (although not strictly identical twins, its as close as I could get when I owned them):

The two Spector NS5CRFMs:

If I'd had the presence of mind, I could have taken a couple of the Celinder Update J's while I had the black one but the headstocks were slightly different anyway.

Thread drift: Interesting. If you don't mind me asking, who made it?

Nice. How did you come to have two (for just a week)?

Both came from Thomanns.
The first looked a bit grotty and i thought it looked used so i emailed them and they said send it back within 30 days for a replacement. Rather than wait i ordered another one that day and planed on keeping the first untill it arrived so i could compare them.
The second one arrived in almost the same condition. I think maybe they get a bit grubby when they are setting them up.
so i had both for a week or so before sending the second one back, mainly because the first one played a bit better and had more sparkle in the finish.
I sold it about 18months ago but Ive just today got another one :-)

For my money, these are two of the most gorgeous instruments ever to have graced this forum.

Hi. Yes, probably the wrong place to put this but it is a Twin, so sort of counts.
To make things better how about the Twins below?
The maker of the Ric Twin was "Reeve Guitars", Northampton - made in the '90's.
It is a great bit of kit, well made but I can find nothing about the maker.
If anyone else has any details, I would be grateful if you could share any info.

A Congregation of Peavey, a pair of Aria Elite either side of an Odyssey
and a pair of Westone Rail Basses.

Cheers. :)

My problem is, I cant find anything I like as much as the new Fenders, or Ernie Ball. Vintage ones would be the next step I guess, but I love new gear.

God knows I tried to try new manufacturers, all this year in fact. Lakland, Sadowsky, Warwick, Spector, tried them all out, and a few different models. Still come back to the old fashioned Stingray/P/J.

I intend to get a Stingray 5 at some point....so still not going for anything different.

it would be cooler if it had all its knobs too. i used to take the piss out of my mate for buying the best bass on the planet in such a rubbish colour, then i ended up buying one very similar, strangely enough i really like white rays now:)
