neepheid
Up to you at the end of the day, it's your bass! I presume we're talking about an Epiphone T-bird here, of course! You'd be nuts to molest a vintage Gibson in this way, imho.
The Burpster
Its your bass - do as you want/need...... IF you intend to keep it. If you dont then think long and hard about mods..... Thats my advice FWIW.
henry norton
+1 on all that - if it's an Epiphone then go for it. They're meant to be quite good, maybe soon to be regarded in the same way Japanese Squiers are, but I have no regrets modding my JV Squier, even though it'd be worth a fair bit more unmolested. If you've got an original non reverse Gibson Thunderbird then sell it and pay a luthier to make you whatever you want - you'll probably be able to buy a new rig and a car to drive it around in with the change
Low End Bee
Paint it fiesta red and bolt on a maple precision neck to make a nice Entwhistle style Fenderbird.
