Toasted
I think it's going to cost a fortune and you'll save minimal money for the hastle. Also, 130lbs is ludicrously heavy for a cab.

Basska
Lol at the
Stick a mast on it and sail it home
I reckoned she'd go down like the Titanic haha, I'm a big lad and it's the sound I want so I just gotta deal with it I think it'll probably cost a fortune aswell but it would cost me double over here anyway. So I thought I'd least find out how much the 'minimal saving would be. Every little helps! Chris Edited December 17, 2009 by Basska
chris_b
What cab are you after?
Gareth Hughes
If it's any help - I had a double bass shipped here and it cost $600, at the time that was just over £300. I've also had quotes of anywhere between $200-1000 for shipping a double bass to the UK. And what makes it worse for you is that a 6x10 cab will undoubtedly weigh more than an upright. Hope that hasn't rained on your parade. Those costs were for air-freight, so I imagine going by boat to be a lot cheaper. I did have to pay import duty, and also an airport storage fee (the cheek!!!) while they processed the duty.
sdgrsr400
When I bought my Acme B2-ii, it was shipped by FedEx Great Rate plan which worked out reasonably well. However you as a buyer can't book onto that scheme directly, it has to be done by the originating supplier who then bill you. Have an email conversation with your speaker's maker about shipping options. If this is some kind of private or s/h deal, quite frankly it could well be much more trouble than it's worth. Basska
Eden 6x10 Cab. Guitar Guitar do the 8x10 for £899 and I've dropped them a line just now asking how much they would charge to get the 6x10 in. So i'll have to wait for that reply to see what is going down. It's probably going to cost me a bomb no matter what I do haha. I'll give the maker a shout cheers! aznbass
Never done anything like that before, but it does seem like alot of trouble and anoyances, as long as the cost to bring it back and buy it are lower than the cost to buy it here, may aswell do it. Hope it works out though!

RhysP
The other thing to take into account is that if you buy from an American store & have it shipped over here any warranty offered will probably not be valid in the UK.

Just get Bassdirect to get you one.
