bobbass4k Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I've been playing 6 years, and in that time I've been through 25 cables. I seem to destroy them at a rate of knots, I don't think I put them through undue abuse, but eventually all the jacks seem to go dodgy, the either get visibly bent or just inexplicably go dodgy. Basically, I'm tired of spending £60 a year on cables, is there a cable out there with very heavy duty jack plugs? I'd be willing to splash out a bit if it lasted for more than 2 years. Quote
geoffbyrne Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Buy good quality jacks & learn to solder. I'm still using cables I bought 40 years ago - mind you they're about a foot shorter.................... G. Quote

Failing that, buy cables fitted with the cast body Neutrik jacks, which have been designed to be virtually indistructable and to grip the cable properly. You'll pay a few pounds more, but it's worth it. Quote
BigRedX Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Good quality screened cable, Neutrik jack plugs, take your time making them up to ensure that the cable is soldered and clamped properly. If that's too much effort get OBBM to make some for you. Quote
stevebasshead Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Google for "armoured guitar cable", this (I think) is an example of what you're looking for http://www.blackdogmusic.co.uk/stainless-s...r-15ft-60-p.asp Quote
Netballman Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 My longest lasting cable has been a Venom Mamba - 3 years and still going strong... Quote
Doddy Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I been using the same Spectraflex cable for about 5 years and not had a single problem-that's why I've got a load of them now. Quote
jimmyb625 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 They're not cheap, but Pete Cornish cables are virtually bullet-proof....Here's a linky Quote
lemmywinks Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Another +1 for making your own. There's loads of easy guides for soldering Neutrik connectors, here's one: http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&sourc...3SbDjohrcmY_rYg I made a few recently and was well pleased with the results, i bought a load of Neutrik connectors on here a while ago (cheers Stevie!) and Van Damme cable is pretty cheap. Obbm stuff is great, well priced and very quick too! I actually quite enjoyed making mine, it only takes a few minutes if you have something to grip the cable and connector with Quote
gnasher1993 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Mogami cable and Amphenol connectors . Quote
