eubassix
Beautiful 1991 Pedulla MVP 4 string fretted Bass finished in translucent cherry red and 1994 Pedulla MVP-Buzz 4 finished in translucent Vintage Cherry. Both have Bartolini P and J pickups, Volume, Pan and activeTone (MVP) or active Bass + Treble (Buzz) knobs, gold hardware, and are in excellent condition for thier age(s). Both require a 9 volt battery to power the active electronics. The MVP has a one small ding on the top of the instrument, other than that the marks on both basses are minimal and supericial. Both play and sound great. The earlier MVP has some of the features of that period such as the brass nut and the vol/pan/tone - but the basses have a very similar feel and weight, so it's really easy in switching from the fretted to the lined fretless bass. I've had the mvp for a while but more recently acquired the 'matching' Buzz-4. Unfortunately, need to sell (.. unless other things go first) to finance travel and other things. The Buzz does not have the somewhat OTT polyester, glassy finish of the current models; it has a really nice, more organic fretless sound, has an ebony fretboard and is currently fitted with black, nylon flatwounds. Serial number (which can be date-checked on the Pedulla site) 33** . New, would now cost around $3895 - 4195! in the USA and £2k+ ('Mansons' - link below) in the UK. From Pedulla:- ...Based on the unique design that first brought M.V. Pedulla to prominence, the MVP (fretted) and Buzz (fretless) basses combine hard-hitting tone with player-friendly ergonomics, featuring neck-through body construction for superb sustain and tone, plus a sleek and facile neck shape, ebony fingerboard, and a beautifully sculpted flame maple body. The ergonomic design includes a deep cutaway on the treble side for easy access to all 24 frets, and an extended bass-side horn that provides a perfect balance point when a strap is used. A three-piece laminated maple neck passes through the entire length of the body, providing maximum focus and sustain. In addition, a double -acting truss rod and two steel stiffening bars in the neck reinforce and maintain stability. The 24-fret ebony fingerboard is inlaid with 5mm pearl dots, and its hardness resists wear and contributes to the MVP's distinctive tone and sustain. The MVP/Buzz is available with your choice of pickups: PJ, JJ, or Soapbar: PJ combination: This set-up is extremely versatile and as a result is the most commonly used pickup configuration of the MVP/Buzz series. The PJ, to our ears, is the best way to reproduce what the strings and wood of the instrument are doing acoustically. The split “P” has a tight midrange growl, and combines very well with the upper mids of “J” pickup. With a full-range, flat frequency response, the PJ set-up allows you to tailor sound through careful selection of amplifier, cabinet and EQ. Details/Options: BODYWINGS: AA or AAA Flame maple NECK: Capillary (neck-through), 3 piece maple laminate SCALE LENGTH: 34 inches FINGERBOARD: Ebony NUMBER OF FRETS: 24/24 inlaid white markers. INLAY: Mother of Pearl, 5mm dots NUT: Bone (Brass on the MVP) TRUSS ROD: Single rod, double-acting adjustable with two stiffening bars WEIGHT: 9 lbs HARDWARE COLOR: Gold, Black BRIDGE: ABM 3-way adjustable machined brass with roller saddles MACHINE HEADS: M.V. I have a little sound clip of mine which I think gives a fair representation of its sound if anyone is interested in these: http://www.frozencloudmusic.com/~chrishisc...ed%20Custom.mp3 here is one of Kiwi's Buzz 5 string: http://www.frozencloudmusic.com/~chrishisc...uzz%205%20a.mp3 oh and another: http://www.frozencloudmusic.com/~chrishisc...uzz%205%20b.mp3 Superb basses. eubassix
Thanks Chris (ped) !!.. very useful to have some additional soundclips. ... I'll certainly miss these (if they do sell - realistically needs for somebody to be looking for a fretted/FL pair if this quality or make), but plan to create another 'matched' pair later in the year (if affordable). Kiwi
Blimey - sweet pair. The maple construction makes them really growly. I've got a set of Alembic Activators spare if the successful buyer fancies fitting them. They release loads of mid range and clarity on the Buzz. eubassix
Thanks CK ! ... sounds like a quality upgrade to an already potent fretless tone ! I forgot to add that the Sadowsky-type knobs I was attempting to source are/were for the MVP fretted (to match those on the Buzz-4... didn't really bother me before I got that): I still need to order but - as there's another member who's wanting some - will do so this w/end. once they're here I'll change them for the plain black ones currently fitted (or send-on to replace, if the bass is already sold)... Here's a closer shot of the mvp:- ..I've had some positive interest in the Buzz, already. Would prefer to keep/sell as a pair .. but if there's another who might be interested in (just) the MVP-fretted, let me know .... eubassix
BH BUMP and Update:- ... I've had genuine interest in the Buzz 4 (plus the same on the mvp4, but the PM'er lives 300+ miles away and does not want the instrument to be posted...). If there's genuine interest in the MVP (fretted) 4 @ £1k ovno. (posted, or collected if you're close enough) then I'd consider splitting the pair. If there's no interest/response, I plan to ebay the pair tomorrow for 5 days and then to sell the Buzz-4 if that doesn't work.
eubassix
Forgot to list this on ebay yesterday, but have done so today:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=160122617054 so it will now run until Monday (unless somebody uses the BIN !). If it (they) doesn't go, then I'll be going ahead with the Buzz sale (assuming the guy remains interested) and looking to sell the MVP fretted independently.
