I would expect the inherent sound from the body to dark and warm, but rosewood isn't a usual body wood so difficult to predict how it will sound and that applies to all custon jobs anyway, IME. Pickups, ... some retro jazz singles from a cosmetic POV... I assume that good wood isn't going to be painted..otherwise it is a waste. Just trying to get my head round a retro looking natural wood bass, and one that isn't the bog standard ash/alder type grain.. This will colour up pretty dark, of course. henry norton Posted December 26, 2009 Share Posted December 26, 2009 From what I understand rosewood gives a tight, bright sound when used for acoustic guitars due to its hardness but with a warmth stemming from the open grain. Take from that what you will - it looks like it'll be a beautiful guitar and it should sound good whatever (decent) pickups you use.
