henry norton
Welcome to the forum. Looks nice - what sound do you want and what pickups can you get down your way??????
Mr. Foxen
And probably most importantly, what sort of sound are you after? I have literally not ideal what rosewood for a body sounds like.
rosewood
Thanks for the comment, i have no idea what kind of sound my customer is after, onething i know he play jazz, i used to make guitar so it would be my first time for me to make bass, i live far away from the crowd but i am sure my customer can get any kind of pickups from overseas, thanks again,
Owen
I looked at your website. I will now have to spend the rest of the day reminding myself that I do not need a new bass.
JTUK
A few things strike me here... the wood looks great, but the shape is a bit retro... I would expect the inherent sound from the body to dark and warm, but rosewood isn't a usual body wood so difficult to predict how it will sound and that applies to all custon jobs anyway, IME. Pickups, ... some retro jazz singles from a cosmetic POV... I assume that good wood isn't going to be painted..otherwise it is a waste. Just trying to get my head round a retro looking natural wood bass, and one that isn't the bog standard ash/alder type grain.. This will colour up pretty dark, of course. Not really sure of any joined up thinking here...???? just my 2p... Edited December 26, 2009 by JTUK
henry norton
From what I understand rosewood gives a tight, bright sound when used for acoustic guitars due to its hardness but with a warmth stemming from the open grain. Take from that what you will - it looks like it'll be a beautiful guitar and it should sound good whatever (decent) pickups you use. I reackon it'll look really good with chrome hardware and a pair of Darkstars. Does your customer have an opinion???
