Hi folks, I'm toying with the idea of getting a cheap 5 string fretless to see if it's what I want.
I read the Squire vs Fender thread & was wondering if the Squire Jazz might fit the bill (as it's easy to upgraade parts on) or does anyone have any other suggestions?
I'm looking to try & keep the price to £200, £250 tops & don't mind s/h.

If you are willing to spend a little bit more try looking out for old Yamaha TRB basses. They often go for around the £300 mark and are really excellent basses for that kind of money... I still don't really understand why they sell on so cheap, the still retail at about £700! Just do a forum search on this site alone and you will see what I mean though.

Good luck! Once you fretless there's no turning back :brow:

Just a hint that 5 st basses are defined by the B string, so this should be the ONE thing to check out for.
I would think you'd be pretty lucky to get a 5 string bass with a decent/usable B for this sort of money.

If you can, then ok...

I've not seen many fretless 5s in that price range, so I would either be looking at getting a fretted 5 of your choice and defretting or keeping an eye on the classifieds here. I did the latter and got a good deal, but as ever YMMV.

I think I may be better defretting a bass myself.
Watched a YouTube video & it looks fairly straight forward.

I did have a look at that mazeti bass but it is over my budget, might look at that streamer.
