dannybuoy
I second leaving it alone. If you're going to buy a new neck and pickup, you may as well get a body while you're at it and end up with a new bass!

Cant help but feel it's a bit of a shame to refinish the body. Id say it will effect the value in a downwards fashion.... So you cant sell it, but you don't want to play it as it is..... Can you get the neck re-fretted?
wateroftyne
If the neck is fretted, you'll need to bear in mind that the dot markers will be in the wrong place.

And I don't want another bass.... see the problem? The neck is the only *real* issue, the "can't/won't play fretless" problemo
