Beedster
I'm looking at vintage Fender bodies at the moment, and it struck me that whilst a lot of guys adeed a JPUP to the bridge on their Precision, I've only ever seen one Jazz body modded for a P-PUP at the neck position, i.e., replacing the neck J-PUP. Is this because the Jazz was pretty much perfect as it left the factory - and could perhaps get close to the Precision sound as is, whilst a factory Precision couldn't get close to a Jazz sound without an added J-PUP, becasue the mod was harder to do on a Jazz than on a Precision, or for another reason? Just curious really Chris
skankdelvar
Y'know, I think you maybe answered your own question... My 2p? The P has only one p'up, hence the logical move is to add another. As the jazz has a good rep, people choose a J p'up to go into a P. The Jazz already has two and most people are pretty happy with the sound, hence fewer P p'up swap-ins. You're right - it's rare and, IMO, looks a smidge 'wrong'.
