Rockbassix Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 A mate is considering buying one of these for his first bass and asked my opinion i've never played one or even seen one in the flesh so thought i'd see if anybody had any opinions on them before he hits the buy button! Anybody owned or played one how does it compare to the standard MIM P bass and whats the build quality like on these? Cheers Quote
AndyTravis Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 my missus got me the white blonde for my birthday two years ago. Winner, lovely bass, vey nicely made. The neck is, as on most reissue pbasses, fairly chunky, so may be a stretch at first. But, a great bass. Quote
Cat Burrito Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I think they are brilliant and have played one for 20yrs. The new ones from the Classic Series are excellent and it's as big a jump in quality from the standard Squiers compared to the VM Squiers. The vintage stylings may not be to everyones tastes but they are certainly to mine. For a first bass it is excellent. They are used by pro musicians too Quote
BB2000 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I also have a blonde 50's P. TBH it plays as well as any Fender I've had. I highly recommend them! Quote
Rockbassix Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 Cheers guys much appreciated! I liked the look of them but didn't want to tell him to go ahead without hearing opinions from people who had played one! The chunky neck should be perfect for him he's got hands like shovels! Can't wait to have a play with it when he gets it! Quote
andy67 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) Ditto everything above! I love mine, it is a superbly built instrument and sounds great, just a little low on output for me. andy Edited December 30, 2009 by andy67 Quote
