It really, really took some thinking to decide to put this bass up for sale, but its far too good to use for the kind of gigging I do. I have only used it for one band practice, and spent the whole time worrying about the sharp bits on the drummers kit coming into contact with the headstock, so since then, have only used it at home.
Its a late 2004 Skjold Exotic Custom, built by Pete Skjold to show off his luthier talents at guitar shows. He really is a fabulous guitar builder! I cant fault this bass in any way. Its a work of art, finished to the highest standards, and looks, well, decide for yourself. The body is spalted beech, (front and back), with a seven piece maple and purpleheart laminated neck. The fingerboard is the most wonderful slab of Bocote you will ever see, and this was an upgrade to even the Exotic Custom (which is the top of the range) model. The electronics are top of the range EMG, and the tone is fantastic. I have another, lower model Skjold which I will keep, as I am not so precious about it.
The fittings are all top notch, straplocks, hard case, etc. If you aren't interested in this bass, at least have a look at Petes website, or Bassdirect (the UK agents) site, where you will see this very bass prominently displayed. I am looking for offers in the region of £1,500 please, which for this quality of instrument is a fair figure. It really is mint in every way, having been bought by me as "new".
Please look at TalkBass.com to se what our American cousins think of Pete's basses!

Cheers,

Bob
