fatgoogle
I was wondering do any classical players know any easy-ish solo pieces. Preferable something that doesn't go wildly out into the thumb position. Also i dont ind cello music but will it have to be transposed. Ive been playing suite 1 in g major by bach so far, at a slowed down pace. Just some music to really push me outside my lessons were i mainly perfect technique. Also what are some good strings for bowing. I find my ones don't grip no matter how i try as much as i would like. Maybe its the softer petz's rosin I'm using. Thank you Sam H

marvin spangles
Try the Marcello or Telleman sonatas. The Capuzi Concerto in D. They are very playable. You should look at the ABRSM syllabus for the various grades for Double bass. It will give you a good introduction to the Double Bass repertoire. You might even consider doing some of the grade exams. String wise. The easiest to bow ime are Tomastik Belcantos. Evah Pirazzi are good too. nickbass
I'm currently working on Marcello's Sonata in G major. A quick scan of the music and the highest note is the octave G in 6th position. I'm using Thomastik BelCantos which really improved the sound of my relatively cheap Stentor bass. I use Nyman-Harts rosin. I've used the Petz rosin (still got some for emergencies) but prefer the Nyman's. Hope this helps Nick
